AV Commissioning Engineer

Role overview

System commissioning and testing

• Commission integrated audio, video, control, and IPTV systems to project specifications and industry standards.
• Commission DSP platforms, covering gain structure, echo cancellation, and room tuning.
• Load, debug, and modify Crestron, Extron, or AMX control code and touch-panel logic.
• Commission Dante AV, NDI, SDVoE, HDBaseT, and matrix distribution; troubleshoot EDID and HDCP.
• Configure IPTV headends, channels, multicast streaming, middleware, and set-top boxes or endpoints.
• Configure Dante audio and converged AV networks, including VLAN/QoS and multicast basics.
• Calibrate displays, align videowalls, and deploy Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms.

Testing, documentation, and handover

• Carry out pre-staging, point-to-point testing, snag lists, and witness tests with consultants.
• Conduct Factory and Site Acceptance Tests and document results.
• Produce test reports, as-built drawings, and O&M documentation for handover.
• Ensure systems meet client requirements, AVIXA standards, safety regulations, and best practices.

Site coordination and client support

• Read AV schematics and rack elevations; coordinate with IT teams and other MEP trades.
• Identify and resolve technical issues during commissioning and after installation.
• Lead client UAT sessions, system demonstrations, and end-user training.
• Provide technical support during events, go-live phases, and warranty periods.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven AV commissioning experience in corporate, hospitality, or showroom projects.
• Hands-on expertise with Biamp Tesira, QSC Q-SYS, and BSS DSP platforms.
• Control-system experience with Crestron, Extron, or AMX, including code loading, debugging, and touch-panel logic modification.
• Strong knowledge of AV-over-IP, HDBaseT, and signal distribution.
• IPTV commissioning experience covering headend, streaming, and endpoint configuration.
• Dante Certification Level 2 minimum and CTS certification (AVIXA).
• Strong troubleshooting, attention to detail, and client-facing skills.

Preferred qualifications

• CTS-I is preferred; manufacturer certifications such as Crestron Certified Programmer or Q-SYS Level 1/2 are also preferred.
• IPTV platform certifications or experience with Exterity, Tripleplay, or VITEC are preferred.
• Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms certification and deployment experience is preferred.
• Converged AV/IT network integration experience and knowledge of broadcast, streaming, or digital signage are preferred.

Working conditions

• Site-based role; evening or weekend work may be required for deadlines, events, or go-lives.
• The role may require lifting and moving AV equipment.
