Job Summary
The Bodyshop Service Advisor is responsible for managing customer interactions throughout the vehicle repair process.
This includes inspecting vehicle damage, preparing repair estimates, coordinating with technicians and insurers, updating customers on repair progress, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
Customer Service
- Greet customers and assess vehicle damage concerns
- Explain repair procedures, timelines, and costs clearly
- Maintain regular communication with customers regarding repair status
- Handle customer complaints and resolve issues professionally
- Ensure excellent customer satisfaction and retention
Vehicle Inspection & Estimation
- Conduct preliminary vehicle damage inspections
- Prepare accurate repair estimates using estimating software.
- Identify additional repair requirements during the repair process
- Coordinate approvals for supplemental repairs
Insurance Coordination
- Liaise with insurance companies and assessors
- Submit estimates and supporting documentation
- Negotiate repair approvals where necessary
- Ensure compliance with insurer procedures and standards
Workshop Coordination
- Schedule repairs and manage workflow priorities
- Coordinate with body technicians, painters, and parts departments
- Monitor repair progress to ensure timely delivery
- Ensure repairs meet manufacturer and safety standards
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate repair orders and customer records
- Process invoices and payments
- Track parts orders and repair status updates
- Ensure documentation is complete for warranty and insurance purposes
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Automotive or collision repair certification preferred
Experience
- Previous experience in:
- Automotive service advising
- Collision repair/bodyshop operations
- Insurance claims handling
- Experience with dealership or independent bodyshop environments preferred
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of automotive body repair processes
- Familiarity with insurance claim procedures
- Ability to read repair estimates and technical documentation
- Proficiency in workshop management and estimating software
