Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy RPA solutions using Blue Prism in accordance with Trust standards and best practice.
  • Support the development and integration of Microsoft Power Platform applications, including Power Automate and Power Apps.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and service leads to translate operational requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Create and maintain reusable automation components, documentation, and governance artefacts.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior automation developers.
  • Ensure compliance with Information Governance, data protection, and cybersecurity standards.
  • Participate in change management, release processes, and quality assurance reviews.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process automation and continuous improvement.
  • Support the ongoing maintenance and optimisation of existing automations.
  • Contribute to technical innovation, evaluation of emerging technologies, and best practice sharing across the team.

  • Working as a partnership, both Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust have a shared vision for excellence in care for our patients and communities; with a set of strategic aims underpinning how we will achieve this.
  • The single corporate service is delivered across both organisations. You may be based at either IWT or PHU and individuals may be required to undertake business travel between sites. For leaders managing staff across multi-site locations, you will need to be visible and provide in person leadership. The arrangements and frequency will be agreed locally.

Qualifications

  • Degree level education/qualification or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in RPA development, specifically with Blue Prism.
  • Strong understanding of automation lifecycle management, exception handling, and process design.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 tools, including Power Automate and Power Apps.
  • Experience of system integration using APIs, web services, and databases (SQL).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to agreed timescales.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Blue Prism certification (Developer / Professional Developer).
  • Experience of working within the NHS or other public sector environments.
  • Knowledge of Agile or hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Experience with cloud environments or virtual workforce management (e.g., Blue Prism Cloud).
  • Familiarity with other RPA platforms (UiPath, Automation Anywhere, etc.).
