Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced Authority Engineer to serve as the technical decision-maker and subject matter expert within our engineering organization.
You will hold and enforce engineering standards, provide binding technical rulings, and ensure all designs, modifications, and deviations meet regulatory, safety, and quality requirements.
This is a leadership role with real authority — your sign-off matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the technical authority for a defined engineering discipline or system
- Review, approve, and provide binding rulings on engineering designs and documents
- Assess and disposition technical deviations, waivers, and non-conformances
- Define, maintain, and enforce engineering standards, codes, and best practices
- Lead technical risk assessments and support HAZOP / safety reviews
- Provide expert guidance to project engineers and multidisciplinary teams
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, clients, and third-party inspectors
- Support root cause analysis and lessons-learned programs
- Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers
Requirements
- B.Sc. in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or related discipline)
- 8+ years of progressive engineering experience, with senior/lead exposure
- Deep knowledge of relevant codes and standards (ASME, API, IEC, ISO, etc.)
- Proven track record of technical decision-making on complex projects
- Experience with design review, deviation management, and technical audits
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Professional Engineer (PE) status preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication for technical reporting
- Oil & gas, infrastructure, or heavy industry background is an advantage
