About This Role
Overview
This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the technical design and delivery of architectural projects across all scales and sectors.
Working under direct supervision of the Director of Architecture, this position provides strategic direction, technical governance, and quality assurance to ensure all projects meet the highest standards of design excellence, regulatory compliance, sustainability, and constructability.
The role leads multidisciplinary teams throughout all project stages, from concept development through construction documentation and site implementation, and builds and maintains strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and statutory authorities in the UAE and wider.
The Associate Director is accountable for technical leadership, resource planning, risk management, project profitability, and mentoring senior and junior team members.
This role also contributes to business development, innovation, and the continuous improvement of technical standards and processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture (B.Arch, B.Sc Architecture, or equivalent)
- Minimum 10 years post-graduate experience
- Proven experience leading the technical delivery of large-scale, complex projects
- UAE Society of Engineers membership
- International professional accreditation (RIBA, AIA, ARB, or equivalent)
- Sustainability certification (LEED AP, PQP, or equivalent)
- Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and external consultants
- Proven track record in client management and business development
Key Responsibilities
- All duties and responsibilities of Associate Director – Technical Architecture
- Provide technical and strategic leadership across multiple projects and project teams
- Establish and maintain architectural technical standards, specifications, and quality benchmarks
- Lead technical reviews and ensure compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and statutory authority requirements
- Oversee the preparation and coordination of construction documentation and technical detailing
- Ensure design intent is maintained while optimizing constructability, cost, and programme
- Manage technical risk, identify potential issues early, and implement mitigation strategies
- Direct project resource planning and staffing requirements
- Monitor project budgets, schedules, and commercial performance
- Lead value engineering and technical innovation initiatives
- Conduct performance evaluations and support succession planning
- Support business development efforts
- Provide site support and resolve technical issues during construction
- Promote sustainability, resilience, and high-performance building principles
