Position Description
- An Associate Payroll Tax Specialist prepares and submits payroll tax reports and payments and ensures compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- The incumbent is expected to collate & update payroll tax forms, reconcile payroll tax data, and handle employee inquiries related to payroll taxes.
- This role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of payroll software and tax laws, and proficiency in software like Microsoft Excel.
- Key duties & responsibilities include but are not limited to: -
- Timely & accurate deposits and Reporting of US/UK/CA/AUS Federal/State/Local/County; Unemployment & back up withholding taxes.
- providing customer service on Payroll tax issues to business and employees
- performing Tax research, registration and correspondence
- assisting with State registrations and multi-state reporting
- providing support for tax audits
- performing system testing of new authorities, tax types, pay elements, Tax rules & rate changes
- driving process improvements and automation
- handling special projects as assigned.
/ Requirements: -
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business equivalent
- Knowledge of US, UK, CA or AUS Federal, state, local payroll tax regulations
- Knowledge of payroll information systems, business application systems and personal computer skills is required.
Experience
- on Workday HCM/Payroll is preferred.
- Good communication skills and at least 2 years’ experience of working within a payroll or tax environment.
- High level of energy, self-direction, motivation, follow-through and issue ownership
- Advanced skills in Word, Excel and other database applications
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a deadline driven environment
- Strong analytical and problem solving and continuous process improvement skills
- Ability to be flexible with work schedule, including weekends and holidays
