Associate Cost Control Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Support project budgets and forecasts for Project Control Engineers, Senior Project Control Engineers, and Project Controls Managers.
• Track labor, subconsultant, and other project costs, including actuals, commitments, expenditures, and forecast values.
• Collect, organize, verify, and reconcile cost information from project managers, teams, design leads, timesheets, and internal systems.
• Update project controls, accounting, cost management, and reporting systems.
• Prepare periodic cost reports, summaries, dashboards, spreadsheets, management reports, project review materials, and presentations.
• Support cost variance analysis and forecast comparisons; perform basic data-quality, arithmetic, and reconciliation checks.
• Identify and escalate incomplete, inconsistent, or unusual cost information.
• Maintain project cost-control files, logs, and supporting documentation.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• At least two years of experience in project cost control, project controls, cost engineering, or a related project environment.
• Intermediate or advanced Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and charts.
• Experience supporting budgets, forecasts, cost tracking, internal cost reporting, or project controls system updates.
• Basic understanding of budgets, forecasts, commitments, actual costs, labor costs, and cost reports.
• Microsoft Office proficiency, attention to detail, organization, communication, and data-reconciliation skills.
• Ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines, and work effectively with project stakeholders.

Desired skills

• Experience with project controls, ERP, accounting, cost management, or internal reporting systems is desired.
• Experience supporting engineering design, construction management, construction supervision, or PMC projects is desired.
• Familiarity with cost structures, reporting codes, internal budgeting, variance analysis, forecast comparisons, timesheets, labor costs, expenses, or project accounting is desired.
