Associate Cost Control Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Support project controls staff with project budgets and forecasts.
• Track labor, subconsultant, and other costs, including actuals, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts.
• Collect, verify, organize, and reconcile cost information from teams, timesheets, and systems.
• Update project controls, accounting, cost management, and reporting systems.
• Prepare cost reports, summaries, dashboards, spreadsheets, management reports, and project review materials.
• Support variance analysis and forecast comparisons; perform data-quality, arithmetic, and reconciliation checks.
• Escalate incomplete, inconsistent, or unusual information and maintain cost control files, logs, and documentation.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in project cost control, project controls, cost engineering, or a related project environment.
• Intermediate or advanced Excel, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and charts; proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience supporting budgets, forecasts, cost tracking, internal cost reporting, or project controls system updates.
• Basic understanding of project budgets, forecasts, commitments, actual costs, labor costs, and cost reports.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and data-reconciliation skills; ability to follow procedures and meet deadlines.

Desired qualifications

• Experience with project controls, ERP, accounting, cost management, or internal reporting systems is desired.
• Engineering design, construction management, construction supervision, or PMC project experience is desired.
• Familiarity with cost structures, reporting codes, budgeting, variance analysis, forecast comparisons, timesheets, expenses, or project accounting is desired.
