Assistant Resident Engineer – Civil & Wet Utilities

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Supervise civil and wet utilities construction, including stormwater drainage, sewerage, potable water, and irrigation networks.
• Oversee pipelines, manholes, catch basins, chambers, valves, fittings, and associated structures.
• Monitor excavation, earthworks, backfilling, compaction, concrete works, reinstatement, and related activities.
• Review contractor shop drawings, method statements, material submittals, and Inspection and Test Plans; verify Inspection Requests, Requests for Information, and quality documentation.
• Monitor progress and compliance with approved programmes and specifications; coordinate with contractors, inspectors, surveyors, utility authorities, and other disciplines.
• Monitor pipeline, leakage, and CCTV testing and commissioning; identify non-conforming work and follow up corrective actions.
• Coordinate utilities with roads, earthworks, and infrastructure networks; prepare site reports, support progress meetings, and assist with site quality, safety, and interfaces.
• Support final inspections, testing, handover, and closeout of completed works.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Relevant experience in civil and wet utilities construction and site supervision.
• Knowledge of stormwater drainage, sewerage, potable water, irrigation, and associated infrastructure.
• Experience with pipeline installation, manholes, chambers, testing, earthworks, and reinstatement.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and method statements.
• Understanding of inspection procedures, quality control, and construction standards.
• Strong coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• UAE infrastructure project experience is preferred.

• Work location model is on-site.
• New hires are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location.
