Key Responsibilities

  • Daily Operations: Coordinate staffing, classroom coverage, breaks, and opening/closing duties to maintain safe supervision and required ratios. Monitor schedules, transitions, meals, rest, outdoor play, arrival, and dismissal.
  • Licensing and Safety: Maintain ongoing readiness for West Virginia childcare licensing inspections. Verify ratios, attendance, staff credentials, and health and training records. Ensure incidents, injuries, and concerns are documented, escalated, and reported according to law and VSL policy. Support emergency drills and secure entry practices.
  • Educational Quality: Support developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with the WV Early Learning Standards Framework. Observe and coach teachers, review Brightwheel documentation for accuracy and timeliness, and help adapt learning for children with differing needs.
  • Staff Supervision: Assist with recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, coaching, and performance feedback. Track required training and credentials, including WV STARS, CPR/First Aid, mandated reporter, and medication administration. Lead staff meetings and classroom observations.
  • Family Partnership: Build responsive relationships with families, address questions and concerns, support enrollment and tours, and escalate serious matters to the Executive Directors.
  • Administrative Support: Maintain accurate records in Brightwheel and Jackrabbit Care. Support attendance reconciliation, purchasing, inventory, and meal-program documentation, and prepare concise reports for leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in early childhood education, childcare operations, school administration, or a related setting
  • Strong knowledge of child development, active supervision, positive behavior guidance, and health and safety
  • Ability to lead adults, give clear feedback, manage competing priorities, and protect confidentiality
  • Current or obtainable CPR/First Aid, mandated reporter training, preservice training, WV STARS registration, and background clearances
  • Reliable transportation and ability to work at either campus
  • Ability to move throughout classrooms and playgrounds, sit on the floor, lift children, and respond quickly in emergencies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, education, business administration, organizational leadership, or a related field
  • Two or more years of progressive childcare or early learning experience, including team leadership or administrative responsibilities
  • Experience with WV childcare licensing, Brightwheel, Jackrabbit Care, and CACFP documentation
