The Assistant Inspector – Motor Cycle is responsible for assisting in the inspection and testing of motorcycles in accordance with RTA / vehicle testing authority standards and company procedures.
The role ensures that all motorcycles meet roadworthiness, safety, emission, and compliance requirements before registration or renewal.
Similar assistant technical inspector roles in testing centers typically include brake, emission, and full technical checks under inspector supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive motorcycles from customers at the designated test bay.
- Conduct preliminary visual and technical inspections of motorcycles.
- Check critical components including: brakes and brake pads, tires and wheel condition, suspension and steering, lights and indicators, horn and mirrors, chassis and frame condition, exhaust and emission levels, engine leakage and performance.
- Perform brake and emission tests as per vehicle testing authority procedures.
- Inspect registration details, chassis number, and engine number.
- Identify defects, faults, modifications, or safety issues.
- Assist the Technical Inspector in preparing inspection reports.
- Ensure compliance with road safety regulations and testing standards.
- Maintain testing equipment, tools, and inspection lanes in proper working condition.
- Guide customers on rectification requirements for failed inspections.
- Follow all safety, quality, and company SOPs.
Requirements
- Diploma / ITI in Automobile, Mechanical, or Motorcycle Technology
- Minimum
- 2–3 years of experience
- in motorcycle servicing, workshop inspection, or vehicle testing
- Good knowledge of motorcycle mechanical and electrical systems
- Familiarity with vehicle testing standards and road safety regulations
- Experience with brake testing and emission testing equipment
- Basic computer knowledge for report preparation
- Good communication skills
