Assistant Chief Engineer

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor team members; conduct evaluations, support development, and recognize achievements.
• Assist the Chief Engineer in managing daily maintenance operations, prioritizing work, and verifying completion through the property maintenance management system.
• Ensure timely resolution of service requests, guest concerns, and emergencies.
• Oversee maintenance of building, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and life safety systems; coordinate inspections and uphold safety and compliance standards.
• Monitor engineering department KPIs, including equipment upkeep, audit results, and team productivity, and take action to improve performance.
• Support hotel-wide evacuation procedures, duty manager coverage, and other safety protocols.
• Supervise external contractors and inspect completed work for quality and compliance.
• Support and oversee property-wide energy conservation programs to reduce utility costs.
