Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Writer role based in Harare, Zimbabwe.
The Writer will create clear, compelling content that supports Global Peace Chain’s peacebuilding initiatives, including articles, blog posts, reports, social media content, and event summaries.
Daily tasks include researching peace-related topics, interviewing stakeholders or ambassadors when needed, and drafting stories that highlight community impact and organizational activities.
The Writer will collaborate with program, communications, and outreach teams to ensure consistent messaging across campaigns, events, and digital platforms.
The role also involves proofreading and editing materials, adapting content for different audiences, and meeting deadlines for organizational publications and communications.
Qualifications
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills for articles, reports, and digital content.
- Experience in research, including gathering information from interviews, publications, and community sources.
- Ability to adapt writing style for websites, social media, newsletters, and formal documents.
- Familiarity with peacebuilding, human rights, or community development topics, or interest in learning about them.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse, multicultural teams.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple assignments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, International Relations, Social Sciences, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Comfort working on-site in Harare and engaging with local communities, events, and stakeholders.
- Proficiency with basic office and collaboration tools (e.g., word processing, shared drives, email, and conferencing platforms).
- Previous experience in nonprofit, NGO, or advocacy work is an advantage but not required.
