Assembly Mechanic

SCOPE and PURPOSE

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assembles drilling equipment and/or the pieces that go into them using power tools, machines, and/or hands.
• Reads detailed schematics or blueprints that show how to assemble the product.
• Verifies conformance of parts to stock list and blueprints, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers.
• Lays out hole locations, and drills and taps holes on parts for assembly.
• Aligns components for assembly, manually or with hoist; bolts, screws, dowels, or rivets parts together, using hand tools or rivet gun; or arranges for assembly by welder and electrician.
• Verifies alignment and tolerances of moving parts, using measuring instruments such as dial indicators and thickness gauges.
• Tests operation of the assembly.
• Assembles, sets up, and operates machines to verify functioning, machine capabilities, and conformance to specifications.
• May form and fasten piping, fixtures, and attachments required to service machine with air, water, and oil.
• Will install Hydraulic and Pneumatic components to specifications.
• Makes adjustments as necessary to produce product within specifications.
• Attends toolbox safety meetings.
• Assists in creating JSA's for job scope.
• Performs assembly duties outside on the rig up pads and on the shop floor.
• Maintains work area and equipment organization and cleanliness.
• Appropriately uses timekeeping system for proper labor reporting.
