About the Job
We are seeking a proactive and relationship-driven Artist Relations Manager to support the development and delivery of contemporary art programs, exhibitions, and creative initiatives.
The successful candidate will build and maintain strong relationships with artists, support project coordination across exhibitions and public programs, and help ensure a smooth, professional, and artist-centered experience throughout each project.
This is a hands-on role working closely with artists, curators, producers, communications teams, and external partners to create high-quality and engaging art experiences.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain relationships with artists, collectives, and creative collaborators.
Support artist communication, project coordination, and day-to-day follow-up across exhibitions and related programs.
Produce artist-facing materials such as briefs, schedules, project notes, communication updates, and related documentation.
Coordinate project timelines, artist deliverables, installation planning, and collaboration with technical teams and vendors.
Manage project budgets, schedules, and supplier / contractor relationships.
Organize artist-related activities such as studio visits, meetings, talks, workshops, residencies, and other engagement opportunities.
Liaise with artists and institutional partners to ensure accurate, thoughtful, and professional presentation of creative work.
Oversee documentation, photography, and archival records for each project or exhibition.
Support fundraising, grant applications, and project proposals by preparing artist summaries and supporting materials.
Monitor artist feedback and project impact; refine engagement strategies to increase accessibility, clarity, and collaboration.
Qualifications
Minimum BA/MA in Arts Management, Curatorial Studies, Art History, Fine Arts, Cultural Management, or a related field; equivalent professional experience preferred.
At least 3–5 years of experience in artist relations, exhibition coordination, cultural administration, or a related role.
Demonstrable interest in and familiarity with contemporary art and artist-centered programming; deep technical expertise is not required, but proven ability to learn and collaborate with artists and institutions is essential.
Strong research, writing, and editorial skills, with the ability to produce clear, engaging, and accurate materials.
Project management experience: budgets, timelines, supplier coordination, and logistics.
Excellent interpersonal skills and experience building collaborative relationships between artists, institutions, and creative teams.
Experience
supporting public talks, workshops, residencies, or other artist engagement activities.
Commitment to accessible presentation and ethical engagement with artistic content.
Portfolio or track record of artist relations work, exhibition projects, or related experience (links or PDF).
Fluency in English; additional languages an asset.
