About the Job
We are seeking a strategic, forward-thinking, and results-oriented Artificial Intelligence Program Manager – Mining Innovation to lead the identification, development, and implementation of AI-driven initiatives across mining operations, exploration programs, asset management, safety systems, and sustainability projects.
The successful candidate will oversee the full lifecycle of AI innovation programs, from opportunity assessment and business case development to deployment, performance measurement, and continuous improvement.
This role requires close collaboration with mining engineers, geologists, data scientists, technology partners, operational teams, and executive leadership to transform emerging AI capabilities into measurable business value.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of AI innovation programs across mining and mineral processing operations.
- Identify high-value opportunities for artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, predictive analytics, and generative AI applications.
- Develop strategic roadmaps for AI adoption aligned with operational, safety, environmental, and business objectives.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineers, geologists, data scientists, software developers, and external technology partners.
- Oversee AI pilot projects and scale successful initiatives into enterprise-wide solutions.
- Evaluate emerging AI technologies, platforms, and vendors for potential implementation.
- Establish governance frameworks, performance metrics, and best practices for responsible AI deployment.
- Support predictive maintenance, autonomous operations, exploration intelligence, production optimization, and safety enhancement programs.
- Prepare executive reports, business cases, investment proposals, and innovation strategies.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, risks, stakeholder communications, and vendor relationships.
- Promote a culture of innovation and digital transformation throughout the organization.
- Monitor industry developments and ensure the organization remains at the forefront of AI adoption in mining.
Qualifications
- Minimum BA/BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mining Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in technology, innovation, digital transformation, or AI-related roles, with experience in mining, energy, industrial operations, or heavy industry strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex technology programs from concept through implementation.
- Strong understanding of artificial intelligence, machine learning, predictive analytics, computer vision, and data-driven decision-making.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and external technology partners.
- Knowledge of mining operations, exploration processes, mineral processing, asset management, or industrial automation is highly desirable.
- Excellent project management, stakeholder engagement, and leadership skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to translate technical concepts into clear business value propositions.
- Professional certifications in project management, data analytics, AI, or digital transformation are considered an advantage.
- Fluency in English; additional languages are an asset.
