International Student Exchange | Fort Wayne, Indiana

Pan Atlantic Foundation | Flexible Part-Time | 1099 Independent Contractor $1,000 Per Successful Student Placement + Opportunities to Earn International Travel

Make Fort Wayne Part of Someone's World

For an international student, an exchange year is about so much more than attending an American high school.

It's Friday night football. It's making friends at lunch. It's discovering a favorite local restaurant. It's cheering at a baseball game, kayaking a river, exploring downtown, celebrating American holidays, and finding the places that eventually feel like home.

Pan Atlantic Foundation is looking for a Fort Wayne Area Representative to help make those experiences possible.

You'll connect international high school students with welcoming host families, supportive schools, and the Fort Wayne community while serving as a local resource throughout their exchange year.

1. Build a Network of Host Families

The foundation of every successful exchange experience is a great host family.

You'll help find families throughout the Fort Wayne area who are interested in opening their home and sharing everyday life with a student from another country.

Your responsibilities may include:

Promoting international exchange opportunities in the community

Connecting with families who are interested in hosting

Meeting prospective host families

Explaining program expectations and responsibilities

Completing required host family interviews and approval steps

Preparing families for their student's arrival

Maintaining communication throughout the school year

You don't need to arrive with a Rolodex full of contacts. You need curiosity, confidence, and a willingness to start conversations.

2. Create School Connections

You'll help identify local schools where international students can become part of the student body and experience American high school life.

You'll work with:

School counselors

Administrators

Teachers and staff

Athletic and activity departments

Community partners

The goal is to develop relationships that make international exchange a positive experience for both the student and the school.

3. Help Students Discover Fort Wayne

Fort Wayne has a lot more going on than an exchange student might expect from a Midwest city.

You can help students discover experiences such as:

Catching a Fort Wayne TinCaps baseball game at Parkview Field

Experiencing a Fort Wayne Komets hockey game

Exploring the Fort Wayne Zoo

Getting hands-on at Science Central

Kayaking or enjoying the riverfront at Promenade Park

Exploring Fort Wayne's three rivers and extensive trail system

Biking or hiking along the Rivergreenway

Exploring downtown shops, restaurants, murals, and public art

Visiting the Fort Wayne Museum of Art

Seeing a performance or concert at the historic Embassy Theatre

Exploring the Historic Old Fort and local history

Visiting the Botanical Conservatory

Discovering Fort Wayne's international food scene

Attending farmers markets, festivals, concerts, and seasonal events

Exploring local parks and outdoor recreation

Taking advantage of Fort Wayne's college atmosphere and community events

Fort Wayne has more than 140 miles of trails, a growing riverfront, downtown entertainment, minor-league sports, museums, arts, and year-round festivals—giving students plenty of ways to get involved outside the classroom.

And sometimes the most memorable experiences aren't attractions at all.

They're the host family's Saturday morning breakfast, a first American Thanksgiving, a school dance, a high school basketball game, a summer cookout, or an afternoon exploring a new neighborhood with friends.

Be the Local Connection

Once students arrive, you'll help make sure they don't feel like visitors.

You'll serve as a familiar local resource by:

Checking in regularly with students and host families

Completing required supervision visits

Helping students adjust to American culture and daily life

Encouraging involvement in sports, clubs, activities, and community events

Helping students work through challenges

Supporting positive relationships between students and host families

Communicating significant concerns to the PAF team

You'll have training, resources, and support from Pan Atlantic Foundation throughout the process.

Who Thrives in This Role?

We're looking for someone who enjoys people, community, and making things happen.

You may be a strong fit if you are:

Outgoing and approachable

Dependable and organized

Comfortable meeting new people

A good communicator

Self-motivated and able to work independently

Comfortable communicating with parents, teenagers, educators, and community leaders

Willing to make phone calls and follow up

Community-minded

Able to handle sensitive situations professionally

Excited about cultural exchange and working with young people

Your background might be in education, coaching, recruiting, customer service, sales, youth programs, hospitality, nonprofit work, social services, community organizations, or leadership.

But there's no single career path that makes someone a great Area Representative.

A Job That Gets You Out Into the Community

This isn't a traditional office position.

As a flexible part-time independent contractor , you'll manage your activities around your schedule and the needs of your families, students, and schools.

Your week could look completely different from the next:

Monday: Follow up with a prospective host family Wednesday: Talk with a school counselor Thursday: Check in with an exchange student Saturday: Meet families at a community event

Some responsibilities can be handled from home. Others happen face-to-face in the community.

If you like having a schedule that gives you room to breathe—and a role that keeps you connected to people—this could be a great fit.

$1,000 for each successful student placement

This is a 1099 independent contractor position with placement-based compensation rather than an hourly wage or salaried base.

In addition to placement income, international travel opportunities may be earned.

Training and ongoing support are provided.

Your Fort Wayne Community

The primary service area is Fort Wayne and surrounding northeast Indiana communities. Auburn, Angola, Decatur, Huntington

We're especially interested in candidates who are connected to:

Local schools

Youth and sports organizations

Civic groups

Churches and community organizations

Parent networks

Local businesses

Community events

Neighborhood organizations

You don't have to know everyone in Fort Wayne.

You just need to be willing to meet people, build relationships, and introduce them to an opportunity they may not know exists.

Why This Opportunity Is Different

As an Area Representative, you aren't simply filling a position.

You're helping create a story that an international student may tell for the rest of their life.

You'll help a teenager:

Experience American culture firsthand Become part of an American high school Discover new sports and activities Become part of a local family Make friendships that cross borders Discover what makes Fort Wayne unique Take home memories from an entire year of American life

And you'll get to play a part in making all of it happen.

Bring the World to Fort Wayne

If you're ready for a flexible part-time opportunity that combines community involvement, relationship building, youth support, and international connection , consider becoming a Pan Atlantic Foundation Area Representative.
