Role overview

Senior individual-contributor software engineering role in Citi's Commodities Technology team in London.

Builds mission-critical market data infrastructure, services and analytics feeds for global Commodities trading desks, with cross-asset touchpoints.

Key responsibilities

  • Architect, build and optimize high-throughput market data engines, curve builders, pricing integration layers and real-time distribution services.
  • Design modular APIs and event-driven architectures using Java, Python or .NET/C#.
  • Deliver tick, end-of-day and historical feeds to pricing libraries and trading applications.
  • Partner with Front Office traders and quantitative analysts to turn trading and pricing needs into production software and integrate models, risk calculators and analytics.
  • Advance generative and agentic AI workflows in development; prototype anomaly detection, market data validation and developer tools.
  • Drive TDD, CI/CD, containerization, observability and performance tuning; own delivery through production support.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Advanced proficiency in at least one backend language: Java, Python or .NET/C#.
  • Strong experience with enterprise messaging or streaming frameworks, such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, Solace, ZeroMQ or gRPC.
  • Proficiency in relational databases and time-series or caching technologies.
  • Practical experience with Git, CI/CD automation, Docker, Kubernetes or OpenShift, and Linux.
  • Familiarity with LLMs, generative AI tools and agentic frameworks applied to engineering productivity or domain solutions.
  • Track record in a Tier-1 investment bank, hedge fund or major financial institution.
  • Strong knowledge of Commodities or adjacent FX, Rates or Equities products, and understanding of real-time market data, tick data, exchange connectivity, curves, volatilities and reference data.
  • Self-driven ownership of complex engineering problems and strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Technical context

Works across Commodities asset classes including Energy, Metals and Agriculture, with cross-asset touchpoints in FX, Rates and Equities.

The provided description ends during a stakeholder-management qualification; remaining source content is unavailable.
