Applications Analyst - Information Systems

Required qualifications

• A degree related to Computer Science, Healthcare, or Business is required; extensive job experience may be considered as an alternative.
• Excellent process analysis, written and verbal communication, and organizational skills are required.
• The role requires problem-solving and software application troubleshooting skills, including recognition of database, operating system, and network dependencies.
• Candidates need teamwork and customer support skills, the ability to triage application issues, experience conducting user interviews for requirements gathering, and knowledge of database-specific facilities and internal structure.

Preferred qualifications

• Healthcare informatics support experience is preferred.
• Experience with MS Access queries or SQL queries is preferred.
• Basic understanding of database design and schema, operating systems, and network design and management is preferred.
• Understanding of efficiency improvements using software scripts is preferred.

Essential job functions

• Work with frontline leaders, system users, and Information Systems staff to determine department needs and develop cost-effective, efficient solutions.
• Facilitate effective application use through process reengineering and standard application functionality; contact vendors and healthcare facilities to support software product evolution.
• Plan, test, and implement application and module enhancements, and help users incorporate changes into workflows and procedure manuals.
• Evaluate reporting requests, provide ad hoc reporting and graphical views where possible, and evaluate programming requests with Information Systems colleagues.
• Use scripting tools to improve end-user productivity, efficiency, and accuracy; work with programming staff to develop and deploy data queries.
• Apply quality assurance practices to data mining and analysis; work with users to test and validate data integrity and accuracy.
• Coordinate with network support staff on data access, consistency, and integrity; collaborate with the database administrator to protect data assets.

Work demands

• The work requires concentration on logical problem solving amid distractions and periods of extended keyboarding.
• Troubleshooting may require lifting computer equipment, kneeling below desks, and moving quickly to remote locations within the facilities.
• The role requires communication through voice, data, and written channels.

Pay

• Pay is $58,489.60–$85,841.60 per year.
