Application Engineering Intern (Year-Round)

About the Role:

Key Responsibilities

• Vehicle Testing & Validation: Assist with active safety testing on test tracks and setup test environments for project vehicles.
• Requirements & Data Analysis: Support the team in reviewing system requirements, creating basic test cases, and performing log/trace analysis using standard industry tools.
• Component & Vehicle Integration: Learn how sensors (ultrasonic, cameras) integrate into vehicles by shadow-reviewing mechanical packaging and assisting with ECU flashing and calibration setup.
• Documentation & Coordination: Help draft test specifications, test reports, and configuration sheets while collaborating with domestic and global engineering teams.
• What You Should Have:
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field OR Recent Graduate.
• Fundamental understanding of mechanical principles (static/dynamic forces) and basic vehicle dynamics.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and solid written/verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; basic exposure to programming or script writing is a plus.
• Nice-to-Have (Bonus Points!)
• Previous project or coursework exposure to active safety, driver assistance systems (ADAS), or automotive development.
• Work Location: This position is located in both our Auburn Hills, MI and Troy, MI locations. Candidates must be able to work from both offices as business needs require and be flexible with their work location.
