API Software Engineer

Role overview

What you’ll do

• Engineer software, scripts, and tools, working with engineers, architects, and business analysts.
• Produce complex and critical software rapidly and to a high standard.
• Work in teams responsible for the full lifecycle, from development and enhancement through maintenance, replacement, or decommissioning.
• Design, produce, test, and implement software solutions across requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and operations.
• Collaborate to optimize software engineering capability.

Skills and experience

• Background in software engineering and solution design, with experience delivering scalable, reliable applications through the software development lifecycle.
• Hands-on Java, Spring Boot, Maven, DB2, and GitLab experience delivering enterprise-grade applications from design to deployment.
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs to engineering standards and best practices.
• Good understanding of microservices, scalability, resiliency, caching, and performance optimization.
• Java performance tuning and troubleshooting experience, including root-cause analysis and resolution of complex technical issues.
• Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD, with experience in Agile delivery, automation, production support, and monitoring tools such as Splunk and Grafana.
• Collaborative team player who enjoys complex technical challenges and high-quality software delivery in an Agile environment.

• Hybrid working, with time at home and regular attendance at an office or hub to collaborate.

Compensation

• The listed salary range is £46,113–£65,100.
