Aircraft Leasing Accountant

Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end accounting for aircraft leasing transactions, including lease agreements, payments, and financial recording
• Maintain accurate records of leased aircraft assets, including depreciation schedules and lease classifications (operating and finance leases)
• Ensure compliance with IFRS 16 and other relevant aviation finance accounting standards
• Track lease income, receivables, and payment schedules, ensuring timely collection and reconciliation
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports related to aircraft leasing operations
• Monitor lease contract performance and analyze profitability of leasing arrangements
• Reconcile lease-related accounts and resolve discrepancies in financial records
• Collaborate with legal, operations, and procurement teams to ensure proper lease documentation and financial alignment
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting for aircraft leasing portfolios
• Support internal and external audits by providing accurate and complete lease documentation
• Identify opportunities to improve lease accounting processes and financial efficiency

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
• Proven experience in aircraft leasing, aviation finance, or asset leasing accounting
• Strong understanding of IFRS 16 lease accounting standards and aviation financial structures
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems
• Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
• Ability to manage multiple lease contracts and financial data efficiently
• Strong communication skills for coordination with internal departments and external stakeholders

Preferred Skills

• Experience in aviation, aircraft leasing companies, or airline finance departments
• Knowledge of aircraft lifecycle costs, lease structuring, and aviation asset management
• Familiarity with financial modeling for leasing portfolios
• Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, or ACCA are an advantage
