Air Brush Artist/Designer

Overview

Position Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Design custom motorsport liveries, graphics, and airbrushed artwork for race cars, motorcycles, helmets, and associated components.
• Produce detailed sketches, digital concepts, and colour renderings for client approval.
• Prepare vehicle panels and components for painting, including masking, sanding, priming, and surface preparation.
• Apply airbrushed artwork using professional techniques to achieve high-quality finishes.
• Mix paints, colours, and special effects to accurately match customer specifications and branding requirements.
• Work with clear coats, metallics, pearls, candy paints, and specialty finishes.
• Collaborate with designers, fabricators, body technicians, race teams, and customers to ensure projects meet design and performance requirements.
• Apply sponsor logos, decals, and branding in accordance with motorsport regulations and team specifications.
• Maintain workshop equipment, spray booths, airbrush tools, and paint inventory.
• Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Meet production deadlines while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
• Keep up to date with current motorsport design trends, painting techniques, and materials.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Proven experience as an automotive airbrush artist, custom painter, or vehicle graphics designer.
• Excellent freehand airbrushing skills with strong attention to detail.
• Experience working with automotive paints, coatings, and refinishing systems.
• Strong understanding of colour theory, composition, and visual design.
• Ability to produce original artwork as well as replicate existing designs accurately.
• Experience with digital design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or CorelDRAW is advantageous.
• Knowledge of vinyl graphics and decal application is beneficial.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• A portfolio demonstrating high-quality automotive or motorsport artwork is essential.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working with professional motorsport teams or high-performance vehicle builders.
• Knowledge of FIA or relevant motorsport branding and livery standards.
• Experience painting race helmets, motorcycles, carbon fibre components, and composite bodywork.
• Familiarity with hydrographics, pinstriping, custom graphics, and specialty finishes.
