Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Advance Metering Technician role based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The Advance Metering Technician will install, commission, and maintain advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) devices and smart meters for utility and telecom-related projects.
Responsibilities include conducting site surveys, performing meter configuration and testing, verifying connectivity and data accuracy, and troubleshooting meter, communication, and network issues.
The role involves coordinating with engineering and operations teams, documenting installation and maintenance activities, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
The technician will also support periodic meter audits, firmware upgrades, and system optimizations to improve reliability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Technical skills in smart meter installation, AMI systems, and basic electrical wiring and safety.
- Ability to use testing instruments, diagnostic tools, and handheld devices for meter configuration and verification.
- Experience with communication technologies related to metering (e.g., RF, PLC, GSM/LTE, or IP-based networks).
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills for field and system-level issues.
- Familiarity with work order systems, basic reporting, and documentation of field activities.
- Knowledge of industry safety standards, lockout/tagout practices, and safe working procedures in live environments.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with engineers, supervisors, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work on-site in outdoor and field conditions, including at customer premises or utility facilities.
- Diploma or technical certificate in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Previous experience in metering, utilities, field service, or telecom infrastructure is preferred.
- Valid UAE or transferable driving license is an advantage.
- Willingness to work shifts or extended hours when required for project deadlines or urgent maintenance.
