The team provides actuarial services to life and general insurers, ranging from large multinational firms to smaller insurers.
Skills and academic qualifications
- Applicants must have or be studying toward a minimum 2:1 in a Maths- or Finance-related degree and complete the degree by September 2027.
- An A-level or equivalent in Maths is encouraged.
- No prior experience is required; understanding of and interest in insurance and actuarial work is recommended.
- The role suits applicants interested in statistics, analytical and detail-focused work, problem-solving, and strategic thinking.
Example work
- Analyse client data and draft reports and slide decks to present findings.
- Research demographic and financial assumptions.
- Estimate, review, and validate insurance liabilities and capital figures, including for insurance company audits.
- Assess liabilities for premiums, profitability, financial reporting, and transfers of business.
- Advise on capital levels and structure.
- Identify inefficiencies in actuarial processes, design improvements, and collaborate with clients to implement them.
Work arrangement
- The programme uses a hybrid combination of office and home working.
- Client-facing work may require attendance at client sites; meetings may be online or in person.
- Final assessment and induction are in person.
Development and qualification support
Analyst induction includes in-person and online learning, talks, group activities, and simulation challenges.
On-the-job training, formal courses, and e-learning support development.
Graduate Analysts receive resources to support qualification as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
