About The Overlord Academy

The Overlord Academy (TOA) is the UAE’s original adventure cadet force, led and operated by British ex-military instructors.

We deliver structured cadet programmes and outdoor education experiences to young people aged 6–15 across the UAE.

Alongside our cadet programme, TOA delivers school activity days, residential trips, corporate activities and expedition-style programmes across a variety of environments.

Our approach blends outdoor adventure with leadership, resilience, and practical skills - delivered to a high professional standard.

The Role

We are recruiting Outdoor Education Instructors to join our growing team delivering high-quality daytime programmes, residential experiences, and corporate events across the UAE.

This is a hands-on, dynamic role within a fast-paced outdoor education environment, working with schools, young people, organisations, and corporate groups across a wide range of experiences and programmes.

Working under the direction of the Team Leader, you will become part of a close-knit, high-performing team responsible for delivering engaging, safe, and professionally run sessions both in-school and in the field.

The role requires adaptability, energy, and a strong team mentality, with no two days ever the same.

This position will involve a mixture of day programmes, evening events, overnight camps, multi-day residentials, and corporate team-building experiences, often operating in outdoor environments across the UAE.

Instructors should be confident working with a variety of age groups and client types, while maintaining high standards of professionalism, safety, and delivery at all times.

The role is physically active and demanding at times, requiring flexibility, initiative, and the ability to operate effectively as part of a team in both a structured and challenging environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver structured outdoor activity sessions across a range of environments including desert, parkland, and residential venues
  • Instruct wilderness survival skills including shelter construction, fire craft, water sourcing, desert navigation, and bush craft
  • Support and co-deliver TOA Desert School Programme and school activity days for partner institutions
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of residential programmes, including overnight supervision and pastoral care of participants
  • Contribute to pre-activity risk assessments and maintain dynamic safety awareness throughout all sessions
  • Prepare and check all equipment before activities; maintain inventory and report defects or losses
  • Compile and maintain participant nominal rolls annotated with medical, dietary, and welfare information
  • Support the Activities Team Leader in briefing, debriefing, and programme administration
  • Engage positively with participants, parents, teachers, and organisational clients
  • Maintain all required professional qualifications and attend any TOA-delivered training
  • Uphold TOA standards of conduct, appearance, and professionalism at all times

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of outdoor instruction, youth work, or a directly relevant field role
  • First Aid at Work qualification as a minimum — Wilderness First Aid (WFA) strongly preferred
  • Demonstrable ability to manage and engage groups of young people and adults in outdoor settings
  • Physically fit and able to work in demanding desert and outdoor environments
  • Fluent English — spoken and written — to a professional standard
  • UAE driving licence — or ability to obtain one prior to start date
  • International Child Protection Certificate (ICPC) — must hold or be willing to obtain as a condition of employment
  • UAE Police Clearance or enhanced DBS equivalent
  • Self-starter — able to operate with initiative and minimal supervision
  • Strong team player with a flexible, positive approach to varied working patterns

Desirable Attributes

  • Military service / outdoor education background — particularly in training, instruction, or field-based roles
  • Recognised outdoor qualification (Duke of Edinburgh, National Governing Body award, BTEC Outdoor Education, or equivalent)
  • Experience working in desert or arid environments
  • Additional specialist qualifications — climbing, water safety, high ropes, first aid instruction
  • Experience delivering school programmes / corporate events or working within an educational setting
  • Knowledge of UAE outdoor activity environment and regulations
  • Arabic language skills — advantageous but not required

Working Pattern & Conditions

This is a full-time role based on 40 hours per week.

Due to the operational nature of TOA's activities — including school programme days, residential trips, weekend events, and expeditions — working patterns will vary across the year.

Extended working days, overnight duties, and weekend work are a regular and expected part of this role.

Additional compensation is provided for operational duties beyond contracted hours, in accordance with Company policy and UAE Labour Law.

Candidates must be physically prepared for active outdoor work in the UAE climate, including extended periods in desert and high-temperature environments.

Remuneration & Benefits Package

  • Monthly salary: 11,000 AED (inclusive of allowances)
  • In-Country Recruitment
  • Employment Visa — provided by The Overlord Organizing LLC
  • Comprehensive Medical Insurance — provided by The Overlord Organizing LLC
