Overview

:

WellTax is an established and growing firm based in London (UK) and Dubai (UAE), which is looking for an Accountant to join our office in Dubai (UAE).

The ideal candidate will have solid experience in accounting, UAE Corporate Tax, VAT and related compliance matters, together with the ability to supervise and support junior accountants in their day-to-day work.

The role is suitable for someone who is ready to take on more responsibility within the team, manage their own portfolio of clients, while continuing to develop their technical knowledge under the guidance of senior accountants, managers and partners.

The successful candidate will be involved in accounting and tax compliance work for clients operating in the UAE and internationally.

The role will include managing and servicing their own client portfolio, preparing and reviewing accounting records, VAT returns, Corporate Tax computations and related documentation, as well as coordinating junior team members, reviewing their work, and ensuring that internal deadlines and quality standards are met.

While the position includes client-facing and advisory exposure, more complex technical matters will be escalated to senior accountants, managers or partners.

The successful candidate will therefore act as a key link between junior accountants and the senior team, helping to ensure the smooth delivery of accounting and tax services.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and assist with UAE Corporate Tax, VAT and accounting compliance work for UAE and international clients.
  • Supervise, support and review the work of junior accountants, ensuring accuracy, quality and timely completion of tasks.
  • Coordinate day-to-day workflows within the junior accounting team and monitor progress against internal deadlines.
  • Prepare VAT returns, accounting schedules, management accounts and statutory accounts in line with applicable standards.
  • Assist with the preparation of Corporate Tax returns, tax computations, disclosures and supporting documentation.
  • Support senior team members with Corporate Tax, VAT and Transfer Pricing projects.
  • Assist in drafting tax memorandums, letters, compliance reports and other client deliverables.
  • Support clients with UAE CT and VAT matters, including registrations, deregistrations, amendments and compliance queries.
  • Liaise with clients to collect information, answer routine queries and follow up on outstanding matters.
  • Liaise with external regulators, auditors and other professional advisers where required.
  • Support senior managers and partners in preparing proposals, presentations and other client materials.
  • Act as a first point of review and escalation for junior accountants, referring more complex matters to senior team members.
  • Stay updated on UAE Corporate Tax, VAT and accounting developments.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in accountancy, tax practice or a related professional services environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • A relevant professional qualification, or progress towards one, such as ACCA, ACA, CTA, ADIT or ATT, would be desirable.
  • Good working knowledge of UAE Corporate Tax, VAT and accounting compliance requirements.
  • Experience reviewing or supervising the work of junior team members is desirable.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles, IFRS and relevant UAE regulatory requirements.
  • Accurate, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Confident communicator with a professional and client-focused approach.
  • Able to deal with client enquiries in a timely and precise manner.
  • Flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and accounting software, including QuickBooks and Xero.
  • Good understanding of the UAE market, local business practices and regulations.
  • Fluency in English. Knowledge of Italian, Spanish and/or Arabic is desirable.
  • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel within the UAE and occasionally internationally.
