Accountant - General Ledger is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. The role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger by overseeing financial records and preparing journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.
- Lead or support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes in line with reporting timelines, including reviewing trial balances and investigating variances or unusual balances.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensure timely resolution of reconciling items, and maintain compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Support the preparation of monthly management reports and financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards such as IFRS and statutory reporting requirements.
- Act as a key point of contact for internal and external auditors by preparing audit schedules, supporting documentation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory, tax, and corporate governance requirements.
- Collaborate closely with AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Treasury, FP&A, and group finance teams to ensure accurate postings, support intercompany reconciliations, and provide guidance to junior team members.
- Ensure accuracy of financial data within ERP systems such as Oracle Fusion, support chart of accounts and master data maintenance, and contribute to automation, system enhancements, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional qualification preferred (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CMA, CA).
- 2 years of relevant accounting experience, with strong exposure to general ledger functions.
