Position overview

Maintenance and repair duties

• Respond to guest repair requests and resolve maintenance issues with guests and customers.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspect tools, equipment, and machines.
• Maintain maintenance inventory, request parts and supplies, and communicate shift activities and problems.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment, plumbing, electrical equipment, and guestroom items.
• Assist with painting, drywall and wood trim repairs, bulb and A/C filter replacement, and repair-area cleanup.
• Troubleshoot hotel MEP systems and perform Engineer on Duty readings and rounds.
• Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures and company safety, security, and quality standards.
• Provide guest service, work with colleagues, and train and mentor other engineers.

Technical work areas

• The role calls for proficiency in one listed maintenance category, above-average skills in two more, and basic skills in the remaining categories.
• Categories include air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, controls, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and building management.
• Use hand and power tools safely; perform basic pipe repair or replacement, including soldering.
• Use engineering computer programs for preventive maintenance, energy management, and related systems.

Qualifications

• Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification is required.
• Must meet applicable state and federal certification and/or licensing requirements.
• Preferred: high school diploma or GED equivalent and vocational or technical background.
• Preferred: general maintenance, surface preparation, and painting experience.
• Preferred: at least 2 years of hotel engineering or maintenance experience.
• Preferred: valid driver’s license.
