2nd Line IT Support Engineer

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Provide first- and second-line desktop support to office users.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, and Microsoft 365 issues.
• Manage Active Directory users, permissions, and Group Policy.
• Support meeting rooms and audio-visual conferencing systems.
• Carry out routine maintenance, patching, and backup monitoring.
• Escalate complex technical issues to senior engineers when required.
• Assist with IT projects and system improvements.

Skills and experience

• At least five years of experience in an IT support or desktop support role.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Windows 10/11.
• Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, and networking fundamentals.
• Experience with Remote Desktop or Terminal Services, desktop hardware, printers, and mobile devices.
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Experience with Autotask or a similar helpdesk system is desirable.
• Virtualization exposure using VMware or Hyper-V is beneficial.

Location and workplace

• The role is mainly based in Oxfordshire.
• Work is performed in person and includes some on-site client placement and travel.

Employment and compensation

• The position is full-time and permanent.
• Pay is £42,000 to £46,000 per year.
