Role Overview

We are hiring for one of our clients, seeking a 2D Game Developer (Defold) to work on a contract basis.

In this role, you will apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems by designing, developing, and deploying 2D games using the Defold engine.

Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input in the dynamic and rapidly evolving gaming industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy 2D games using the Defold engine, focusing on optimal performance and minimal build sizes.
  • Implement robust gameplay mechanics and systems utilizing Lua scripting in a modular architecture.
  • Collaborate closely with designers and artists to iterate rapidly on game prototypes and refine user experience.
  • Optimize games for smooth performance across a variety of mobile and web platforms.
  • Maintain efficient, well-documented code and adhere to best practices in game development.
  • Debug, profile, and resolve performance issues to ensure stable game releases.
  • Contribute creative solutions to technical challenges and participate in code reviews.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in the Defold game engine and Lua scripting language.
  • Experience in game development, with a focus on 2D game design and deployment.
  • Strong understanding of game mechanics, user experience, and user interface design principles.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
