2D & 3D Draftsman / CAD Designer – Aluminium, Metal Cladding, Façade & Structural Shop Drawings

Role and position

Experience and education

• The posting specifies mid-level experience and 3–5 years of relevant professional experience.
• A bachelor's degree or diploma in Engineering, Architecture, Technical Drafting, or a related field is listed.
• Advanced AutoCAD skills are mandatory; candidates must be able to work independently and produce clean, accurate drawings.
• Knowledge of Rhino, Revit, SketchUp, Grasshopper, or other 3D modeling tools is an advantage.

Technical qualifications

• Strong understanding of façade systems, aluminium work, metal cladding, steel supports, brackets, fixing details, and site installation requirements.
• Ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings, elevations, sections, and technical specifications.
• Experience preparing drawings for consultant approval, manufacturing, fabrication, and site execution.
• Knowledge of aluminium, mild steel, galvanised steel, stainless steel, ACP, expanded metal mesh, and cladding systems.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, scale, dimensions, layers, annotations, and drawing presentation.
• Good communication skills in English; ability to manage complex details, multiple drawings, and tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare 2D shop, fabrication, and structural drawings and 3D models for aluminium, steel, façade, and metal cladding work.
• Produce drawing packages with plans, elevations, sections, enlarged details, fixing and bracket details, connections, and assembly drawings.
• Convert architectural, structural, consultant, IFC, and project drawings into technical drawings for production and installation.
• Prepare drawings for panels, expanded metal mesh, cladding, architectural features, steel subframes, brackets, and supports.
• Assist with structural calculation inputs, material take-offs, quantities, panel schedules, cutting lists, and fabrication documentation.
• Revise drawings using consultant comments, site conditions, project needs, and engineering feedback; coordinate with project teams.
• Conduct site visits when necessary and liaise with site teams.
• Ensure drawings are accurate, buildable, properly detailed, and aligned with project specifications, materials, and UAE construction standards.
• Deliver urgent submissions without compromising quality and maintain organised drawing records, revision logs, file naming, and project documentation.

Assessment and application

• Shortlisted applicants may be asked to complete a practical AutoCAD drafting test or submit relevant work samples or a portfolio.
• Candidates currently available in the UAE to join will be given priority.
