ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Teachers demonstrate the value of lifelong learning and encourage their students to learn and grow by: - Building leadership among the staff and with the administration in order to bring about consensus and common shared ownership of the vision and purpose of work of the school. - Making the content they teach engaging, relevant, and meaningful to students’ lives by aligning their instruction with the common core, essential standards, and 21st-century content which includes: global awareness, financial, economic, business, entrepreneurial literacy, civic literacy, and health awareness. - Teaching existing core content that is revised to include skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, and information and communications technology (ICT) literacy. - Facilitating instruction using a variety of instructional methods that are appropriate for their students by integrating and utilizing technology. - Using a variety of methods to assess what students have learned and to help them work in teams and develop leadership qualities. - Working collaboratively with the families and significant adults in the lives of their students, adapts their teaching for the benefit of students with special needs, and embraces fairness in the school community and in the world. - Demonstrating ethical principles including honesty, integrity, fair treatment, and respect for others. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders. - Must have finger dexterity and be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion.
