2027 AI Engineer Summer Internship

Role Overview

Responsibilities

• Develop applications and data products using machine learning, natural language processing, and generative AI.
• Interact directly with senior investment bankers and portfolio managers to receive feedback on solutions.
• Help improve business processes and decision-making through technology.
• Work collaboratively within Lazard’s AI and Data Team.

Eligibility Criteria

• The internship runs from June 7, 2027 through August 13, 2027.
• Candidates must be able to be in New York City for the duration of the internship.
• Candidates need a bachelor’s or advanced degree in computer science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or a related field.

Technical Qualifications

• Strong Python programming skills, including object-oriented or functional programming, are required.
• Familiarity with large language model frameworks is required.
• Candidates should understand unstructured data processing and NLP techniques such as entity recognition, text classification, sentiment analysis, and RAG.
• The role involves APIs, microservices, relational and NoSQL databases, Git, CI/CD, and modern development workflows.
• Exposure to cloud platforms, containerization, and orchestration tools is requested.
• Interest in agentic workflows, autonomous AI systems, and MCP agent development is desirable.

Compensation

• The prorated salary for the approximately 10-week internship is expected to be about USD 135,000 for the internship duration.
