About the role
The 1st Line Helpdesk Engineer provides first-line technical support to users.
The role includes remote and in-person support with a professional, customer-focused approach.
Key responsibilities
- Provide remote first-line IT support by phone and email.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues, escalating where necessary.
- Support users across Windows and Office 365 technologies.
- Maintain IT documentation and knowledge bases.
- Provide customer-facing support by phone, email and in person.
- Participate in an on-call rota providing 24-hour support.
Required skills and experience
- Previous 1st Line Support or Helpdesk experience.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with Windows 7, 10 and 11.
- Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy and server maintenance.
- Experience with Office 365, Exchange, OneDrive and SharePoint.
- Basic understanding of Azure.
- Basic networking knowledge including IP addressing, DHCP and DNS.
- Knowledge of VMware or virtualisation.
- Experience with antivirus solutions such as Sophos.
- Clear and confident communication skills.
Desirable skills
- Experience with Mac administration.
- Previous experience in a customer-facing IT support environment.
